Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert
Fabric Description: Lightweight light-crepe chirimen type silk from a woman's kimono, minimally translucent, with mustard-yellow color background which is composed of very tiny pixelated swirls & waves in very dark green with some muted burgundy colors (see close-ups); the back of the fabric is solid mustard-yellow; also, fabric has a slight stretch, heavy enough to have a nice drape compared to many others we see; Motifs are hard to determine meaning, but we see classic waves, with flora, possibly mountains or hills -- quite an intricate and small-scale use of traditional Japanese themes and patterns, though it suggests some modernistic, almost abs influences; this fabric is very lightly textured chirimen, but the crepe is low relief, slightly textured to the touch (due to weave), some sheen.
